“The Same (Country Cut)” is a personal reflection — written after I lost my mom to cancer and my sister and brother to drug and alcohol abuse. It’s about wishing time could freeze during the good days… before the loss.
I wasn’t born in Georgia, but I was raised on dirt roads in a trailer, living with my uncle on his corn and cow farm while my dad was between jobs. My mom stayed home raising six kids, and my dad worked as a psychiatric nurse, caring for veterans.
These songs — this music — are therapy.
They’re not for fame. They’re for anyone who’s lost someone… anyone who’s ever wanted life to just stay the same.
I call it Hick Hop Pops — a blend of Christian truth, country grit, and hip-hop soul.
